About the Author
I am the mother to seven, and as a Reading Paraprofessional at an inner-city elementary school, a teacher to many.
I have lived in many spaces and places such as Italy, California, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and (whew!) Maryland. I now call Omaha, Nebraska home where I live with my hubby, children, and a pet turtle named Romeo, who just kinda eats, poops, and sleeps a lot.
Along with working hard to get the word out about “Come What May,” I am also currently working on my new YA book, " They Call Me Blanca." In addition, I do some freelance writing. However, (although it has been a lifelong goal) to my great dismay, I haven't learned to play the drums yet!
I have had a passion for books and the written word since before I started kindergarten. Quite often my parent's voices could be heard calling for me around the neighborhood, only to later find me tucked away someplace around the house (like in my closet) reading The Chronicles Of Narnia.
My first story, written in purple crayon on construction paper, was about a little mouse family that moved into a neighborhood surrounded by some mean cats that didn’t want them there. I was six at the time, and after drawing the pictures to complete the project, I went around the neighborhood and tried to read it to anyone who didn't run away. I still write to tell stories, but my preferred tools are no longer crayons and construction paper.
For me, telling a story is like baking a delicious cake. If you bake a cake that you know is totally awesome- then you want to share it! Telling a story is my way of sharing a little piece of delicious with anyone who will listen to it (or in this case read it).
